Rethinking Waste: Tube and check shoes
Seizing on a green trend and not just green washing it Above + Below London has been rethinking waste streams. This shoe manufacturer has rethought and repurposed old London Underground seat fabric, car tires, and leather checkbooks to create a hip, trendy, and truly eco-conscious footwear.
These Limited Edition Trainers are made by sweat shop free labor in small Portuguese family businesses. All 100% salvaged UK waste. Remade in Portugal. The uppers are made from restored London Underground and London Bus seat covers. The trim is 100% recycled or repurposed leather from leather check book covers (As checks are becoming a thing of the past so are their ecoutrement). The soles are made of 33% recycled tire rubber.
Added eco-conscious, green perk – for every pair purchased they plant a tree in London via Trees for Cities.

Well sourced.
It never ceases to amaze me how innovative people/business can be.
There is still lots of truth in the old saying,,,,one man’s trash is another man’s treasure.
If nothing was left in this world except rubbish dumps…people would get creative and get making all sorts of things from the debris. Almost everything would and could be salvaged probably. No stone left unturned
Hats off for this shoe company. Excellent!
